- we moved into 1303 N Tatnall St (one broken kitchen table later)
- I bought a Black Honda Fit Sport (perfect for the small city)
- we ate and exhausted all good food options (Domaine Hudson is my favorite)
- I changed jobs (still with Google, now an AP for Mobile Ads)
- we got engaged (a highlight)
- I donated 12 inches of my hair to Locks for Love (see YouTube video)
- we got a dog (it remains to be seen if we're keeping him)
- we took an amazing vacation to Seattle (Lauren's wedding!)
- we got a realtor (and are actively looking at houses in Wilmington)
- we survived an earthquake and hurricane Irene
Jon proposed to me on March 13, 2011 -- the day before our Pi day anniversary. I am thrilled to marry him. In many ways, I already think of him as my husband.
The woman who sold him my ring, Janet Grillo, also gave us a bottle of Champagne and a book on the 7 Stages of Marriage. More out of nightstand-reading boredom than anything else, I started the book.
One point they make about marriage is the transition from me/I to us/we.
When I read that I thought, "that's why." That's why I knew we had to move. And that's why he was so hesitant to leave. We both had the other person's best interest in mind.
Best of all, we made the right decision. It helps that I could keep working at Google. And it helps that my sister is only 40 minutes away now. But above all, Jon is my family. And family will always come first.
Here's to the next 27 years!
