Feels like Autumn

Last night a tornado warning for the southern Cook County suburbs marked the onset of fall. Torrential rain and 20+mph winds accompanied the cold front. This morning I stepped out of the house in 53° weather, a chunky green sweater, and my rain boots. I don't mind the cooler weather, but I'm not kidding myself either. We all know what comes next.

The weekend was very nice, minus the fact that Jon didn't come home from Cookville until Saturday afternoon. Friday night I read Harry Potter (I'm now on the 5th book, Order of the Phoenix) and cuddled with the kitties before going to bed early. Then Saturday I took the cats to the vet for their annual exam. Both cats weigh 14 pounds and some change - wow. Time for the 1/4 measuring cup to come back into use. Aside from a small ear infection in Finn's left ear, they both got a clean bill of heath $400 later.

On Sunday, Jon and I took advantage of the beautiful (if windy) weather and ran errands around town on our bikes. First stop, JoAnn Fabrics where I had a 50% off coupon which I used to by Gingher pinking shears. Then we found black work shoes for Jon at DSW, followed by a quick return at TJ Max. Had it not been for the massive amount of Chipotle we ate for lunch after that, the ride home would have been much more enjoyable.

Today after work I plan to work on the header for a new blog Lauren and I will be starting together around cooking. I'll be sure to send the link when it's ready for prime time.
