Fun with Sight and Bikes

Riding into work this morning on my bike, I saw the John Hancock Building clearer than I've perhaps ever seen it before. Today marks the first day I'm wearing my contacts to work. I brought all the fixings along with me in case my eyes go kaput this afternoon and I need to revert back to glasses. So far so good.

In other news, I am officially the biggest nerd I know. Today I bought a Google bike jersey. They say that Harley Davidson's brand loyalty can be found in ink on the riders themselves. While I certainly won't go that far, I've taken the first of many steps in that direction. Now the next step is to recruit others and start a Google - Chicago Racing Team. That shouldn't be too hard, right?

Speaking of my bike... On Sunday, Chicago hit record high temperatures. I ventured outside with a toothbrush, bucket of soapy water, some towels, chain de-greaser, Road-Rage lube, and my trusty Lemond. I set up shop in my alley and proceeded to give my bike a thorough cleaning. The snow had all but melted and the watery evidence lay in a giant puddle about 3 feet away from me. Suddenly, a car came barreling into the alley and my left side got completely covered in foul alley water. Shocked, I only managed to screech this panicked, disgusted chirp of a noise, saving the neighborhood children the finer varieties of the English language.

Who else is going to teach the children the beauty of the English language if not strangers? I am sorely disappointed in your lack of teaching ability.

Whereas I am glad for your exercise of restraint and your display of civitas. That teaches a lesson in and of itself.
