On Tuesday, July 1st, Lesley and I said goodbye to 2534 and hello to 1722. Welcome to Ravenswood my friend! In all the movers worked from 10am - 2:30 and we met our target moving price almost exactly ($1 over, but who's counting). The only complaints I had:
-a scratched foot board
-a rapidly dying desk
Now, to be fair the desk is made out of particle board and I put it together myself about a year ago, so the fault is probably partly mine.
For the most part, we are unpacked now. All I have left is the desk boxes (waiting to see how badly I feel like fixing it), and the wall decorations. Fortunately, my mom is coming to visit in a couple weeks and that should give me the kick in the pants I need to finish the job.
Fourth of July was great. Jon had a BBBQ (aka a BYOB BBQ) on his patio followed by watching the fireworks display on his roof. The highlight? A battle with the "Alley People" as both groups tried to one-up each other lighting off fireworks purchased from surrounding states. How I love the Fourth of July.
And why haven't I been posting besides the move? Well, art projects for one. Yesterday Jon and I melted down some exhausted candles, poured it into an old mug, added three strands of embroidery floss for wicks, and BOOM - insta candle. Ok, maybe not instant because of the phase change :) but I have to admit it worked great.
This week Jon and I are trying something new. We bought a week's worth of groceries and we're going to cook this week instead of eating out. In the end, it comes out to $10 (or less) per day. Not too bad.
Tonight is guitar and I have to have to have to get better about practicing. I can make up all the excuses I want, but if I search my soul, I could find time to practice daily. This week, I swear.
