Reminiscing on Weekends and Books

Last weekend Lesley and I headed to Myopic Books and I picked up two new titles which I get to read once I finish For Whom the Bell Tolls. When I go to Myopic, I'm usually overwhelmed. Not so this time. This time I came prepared. This time I had a list. A list of the top 100 books according to Time. I'm happy to report that I've read 19%.

One of the new titles will help me get to 20% -- Margaret Atwood's The Blind Assassin. One of my favorite professors at Northwestern, Reginald Gibbons, wrote the other novel I picked up, Sweetbitter.

Of course I will never get to 100%. First, they change the list yearly. Second, I have no desire to read anything by Cormac McCarthy or William Faulkner. Third, The Infinite Jest would take a lifetime to read, leaving no other time of the others.

The end.
