Sniffles and Suckers

Well I broke the reading trend with books that lack storyline closure but at my emotional expense. My grandmother gave me the book, The Feline Mystique, for Christmas. It's a good read for female cat lovers, though the author does repeat herself too much. Unfortunately, the close of the book deals with the loss of many of the darling cats she's highlighted throughout her prose. I couldn't fight the tears and in combination with my already congested head, I was quite the sight yesterday afternoon.

The afternoon did perk up, however. Brandon come over to return our spare keys and get the check for kitty sitting. I needed his help (and his car) to haul a great clearance find from TJ Maxx -- this perfect little chair/ottoman set to replace my crappy yardsale college chair. Well when that errand finished and we installed the chair in the corner of the den Brandon mentioned going to Costco. My eyes lit up and Brandon agreed to take me along. At Costco I found my new vacuum! A Dyson. It works great so far as I can tell. Lifetime hepa filter, no bags, 5 year warranty (plus Costco's great return policy), and a host of fabulous attachments. While I cooked dinner for the two of us, Brandon assembled the vac. What a sucker! We topped the night off with a little sorbet from the corner store and the movie American Graffiti.
Let me say for the record, I don't understand the draw of this movie at all. At least the soundtrack was "Boss."

Today will be filled with spring cleaning (a little early I know, but best to start the new year with a clean and organized apartment) and lunch with Christian.
